a traitor to my party

i've always considered myself some form of conservative. when i was younger, i was pretty straight conservative. as i went through high school, and got exposed to all kinds of different people, i became a little more moderate-ish. not a lot, but a bit. at one point, i considered myself libertarian (and I still do actually). i've kind of strayed from that title during this election because of ron paul and his minions acting like they are saving the world. when it comes down to it, i'm socially liberal and economically conservative - a libertarian with a slight right tendency.

that being said, i think i'm going to vote for obama this november. weird, eh?

the thing is, mccain is such a liberal conservative that he and obama are actually extremely similar. i compared their voting records, beliefs, and all that, and realized that their differences are small. the biggest thing that separates them is their view on the iraq war. obama didn't support it, mccain did. obama wants a plan for leaving, mccain wants to stay for 100 years or more. my opinion? i think they should be there until it's done. this doesn't really fit with either person. and to be quite honest right now, the iraq war isn't what's important to me. i know that sounds like a typical dumb ego-centric american, but i feel like they did a good thing by going into iraq and pwning hussain and his nutjob regime, and i think they've made an impression, don't get me wrong. however, part of me does believe that maybe we should aim to leave sooner rather than later, because it seems like maybe people in that area don't appreciate the help. but i'm not exactly an expert.

what's more important to me is how much mccain hates the media and internet. he doesn't support net neutrality, he wants to censor all this stuff, he blames violence in children on video games and television, he wants to regulate the crap out of everything. obama does not. that matters to me.

pretty much all their beliefs other than that are the same, except maybe for gun control (which i've decided i don't really care about, i could probably get a gun no matter if they were banned someday).

so there you go. i guess i'm voting libtard unless something changes before november.

yikes.
